Dear Friends and Supporters-
I wanted to thank all of you for your support, tireless work, and generosity to the Mills for Council campaign over the course of the past year. While we did not win a seat this time around, I am extremely proud of our get out the vote efforts and the strong ground work we have laid for the future in making positive changes for Cincinnati.
The campaign saw many successes in its first run. Not only did we have a tremendous amount of grassroots support; we also were able to do a lot with little. We had great coverage in the city, from our T.V. commercials, our radio/newspaper ads, our door to door lit drops, and honk and waves. Along the way we received the endorsements of the Hamilton County Republican Party, Lead PAC, CincyPAC, the Home Builders Association, the Apartment Association and the Cincinnati Enquirer. I was lucky to receive encouragement and personal support from Senator Rob Portman and former Police Chief Tom Streicher.
Through my Mills Means Jobs Plan, I was able to highlight many economic and job related issues that need to be addressed by the council-elect moving forward. I will offer my services to help any and all of our council members who are interested in pursuing a more expansive and effective path for job creation. I will continue to advocate for greater shared services, managed competition, and other cost saving measures to create sustainable budgets. Most importantly, I will continue to work to bring your voice to City Hall by continuing increase citizen participation through the creation of a Citizen Leadership Board.
I am extremely proud of our campaign and our volunteers who have actively worked for and truly believe in a vision for a better Cincinnati. I could list so many names that have given their all to us, but I will just take the time to highlight a few. I want to give special thanks to my incredible campaign manager, Beth Race, who did an outstanding job in literally every area. Also to my husband, Kyle Reynolds, who has been extremely supportive of my efforts to run for City Council and for his encouragement and motivation when I needed it the most. I want to thank my sister and campaign treasurer, Ashley Smith Mills, who has been an integral asset to the campaign. Finally a big thanks to my parents Ken Mills and Patti Smith Mills for their love & encouragement. In life they have provided many teaching moments, but they always stressed above all else to trust in God and to never, never give up.
Till next time,
Catherine Smith Mills.
